I liked (wonder of wonders) both the FL and the ML. I especially appreciated the FL for being strong and not having that disgusting trope of falling under the ML's spell as though she had been drugged or just had a complete lobotomy. At the same time, it was a real pleasure and fresh experience to read about an ML who didn't rape, blackmail, threaten, or kidnap the woman he supposedly loves to distraction. Decent is an adjective that is rarely appropriate for Harlequins, but definite applies in this case.
