The Boss and The Beauty
That certainly wasn’t a typical Harlequin, even with the “makeover” trope. It was odd, but I rather liked it, probably because it was atypical for HQ, and also because the ML wasn’t a manipulative horndog, bedding women by the bushel.
Don't Play Games
I liked it, and it was well-written. Unlike most Harlequins, the characters weren't black and white, nor were they stereotypes or cliches. There were a number of flawed individuals, but none of the ghastly psychopaths HQ authors are often so fond of depicting. As a character study, it was quite something and well worth reading.
The Italian's Demand
They were both not bad people, but they both were also in need of meds. He made an extremely vulgar and misogynistic suggestion when they were deciding early on about what to do about the child. Until the end, he never said he loved her, just that he "wanted" her, meaning "I want to have sex with you." I'm sorry, but that ain't romance, it's lust and pretty selfishly presented at that.
