What a complete set of saps. Talk about "what tangled webs we weave." The only ones hurt by all these lies and shenanigans were the ML (who deserved it) and the FL (who didn't). The "fiancee" brat was as selfish as be damned, and her father was a devious and manipulative bastard. As to the ML: he was so impatient at the beginning that I expected him to ravish her on the table in the restaurant while still trying to convince her that he was in love with the other girl. Then when everything comes out in the wash, so to speak, he appears to be happy to wait for a year before starting to plan their marriage. Definitely not very consistent of him. It seemed to me that he was like so many Harlequin MLs and the edge came off his passion once he was able to boink her. It's as though, pretty words notwithstanding, pursuit and conquest are all that matter to these alpha stud muffins. Personally, I find “Bedpost Notchers” to be a particularly low life form.
