My God, what a flaming a**hole. How in the hell does an author think up a character that unforgivable without destining him for the gallows?

"I never stopped loving you, but I'll have my revenge!" You're sick, bucko. Yeah, her father was a scumbag for lying, but why in hell didn't the police talk to her while the investigation was going on? I would think that would invalidate the investigation as a whole. As an aside, I am not a conformist and pretty much go my own way as I see fit, but I can't be part of counter-culture movements. They're kind of like joining a cult, where you abandon societal norms, but have to totally embrace (and conform to) a different philosophy. It's just changing one stifling set of beliefs for another.

Sorry to be such an unromantic, but the ML was a complete a**hole. He made up his mind about the FL's brother from the get-go, and nothing up to and including a direct communication from the Almighty was going to change it. He was very disrespectful to his ward, as he wouldn't hear her out at all. As to his attitude towards the FL, he wanted her for sex from the beginning. He was either totally dense or a sociopath since he either had no idea or didn't care that he had insulted and hurt her deeply with all his poisonous words about her beloved brother, and yet kept after her almost to the point of rape. For me, the perfect ending would be for him to be the pathetic, boo hoo self he was at the end, and instead of agreeing to marry him, the FL starts laughing in his face and keeps on laughing until his brain blue-screens.

The ML does just about everything unethical and illegal except outright rape, although his sexual assault after kidnaping the FL is so close to it as to be almost indistinguishable. But of course his boo hoo hoo childhood was horrible, so it makes perfect sense and is completely alright for him to be a rich entitled psychopath with all the empathy of a weasel in a hen house. In other words, it's a typical Lynne Graham story.

After all, you’re just a destitute whore and it’s perfectly alright for me to use you for my pleasure like the lower class slut you are.” Is there some sort of competition going on between some Harlequin authors over who can come up with the most filthy and irredeemable male lead? This entitled POS is definitely in the running as a finalist. As a side note: we have another English author making a rich Greek man into one of the filthiest scumbags imaginable. Bigotry rearing it’s ugly head?
