Got to agree, I find it very hard to read other genres now, not that I don't want to but just can never feel comfortable with the main characters if they're in a straight relationship, I start to ship the male characters instead!! reply

My parents don't know what Yaoi is and I hope that won't ever change. My sister knows about it, but not that I really like it.
My friends know that, even if one of them dislikes that genre. They also know what kind of stuff I read and tolerate that.

I am often in the same situation, and I think you should just ask them about the things they like. Even if it's not manga, maybe you'll be able to bond over other things too. As long as they don't judge you for liking manga that's okay ! And if you want to talk about manga/anime there's always the internet. Though I know it's not the same unfortuna...... reply
