It's not dumb at all!!!
If it were me, I'd practice what to say - so that next time it goes to happen I can stop them (accompanied with a strong gesture, like a hand up - as if you're saying "talk to the hand") and tell them very boldly and strongly;
"It makes me uncomfortable when you do that, it's not acceptable and I want you to stop and nev...... reply
