Not every trope you see in manga started there. My mom has old romantic novels still on her bookshelves (old faves) and many have age gaps.
You really need to diversify your reading. Plenty of novels with silver foxes, daddy bears etc and plenty of people who are fine with age gap. Both hetero and lgbq+ stories ...... reply

Age gaps being normalized in yaoi shouldn't come as a surprise considering rape and sexual assault is also normalized. But yeah, those minor x adult yaois with awfully large age gaps concern me as well. reply
