When I had to take the PSAT (big timed test) I had to take it in the library to get extra time along with everyone else who had a 5O4 or and IEP (modified learning plan for people with learning or other disabilities).
I knew I was there because I had a 5O4 and needed that extra time, but some people, including my friend, were confused about the situation.
So my friend asked the teacher why we were taking the test and eating lunch separately from everyone else.
And instead of explaining it properly, the teacher ducking says, “It’s because you’re ‘special’.” #－.－)
Like hun, it’s not some ducking secret trust me we are all well aware we have a learning disability or other disability. We aren’t stupid. People are just confused because instead of explaining the situation to people forgot about the arrangement with their plans, y’all just say we’re ‘special’ or ‘unique’
I know y’all do it to make us feel less isolated, but all it does is make us feel ever more separated from other people.
