What bothers me even more is that a lot of active scanlation groups nowadays use AI translation, then lock those chapters behind paid access even when the translation is sloppy and barely worth paying for...... reply
My issue isn't that they ask for money or even paylock chapters so that they release a little behind for readers who are reading for free...

omg I really get your point, Im an ex scanlator and it sure was tiring and very time consuming doing the chapters. At one time I thought that my efforts were useless. But it all actually depends on the intention itself from the start.

Look as a stop gap, I’m ok with these groups working on these series, but I don’t agree with the paywalls.
Scanlation was supposed to be by fans for fans, and sometimes they would ask for donations to buy the raws, but that’s different from straight up asking for money to read something you’re working on illegally.
