I feel like as an Asian American most of these stories with semi asian protagonists are part of a larger culture of pandering to white audiences. I personally don't think its that big of a deal, as a Asian immigrant in America. I think it's just, maybe their trying to make it more relatable, as much of the young Asians in America are Biracial or second or other generation immigrants, yanno.
