For Yaoi it really doesn't matter to me, both are great tbh. But as for yuri, Korean manwhas have left me absolutely s h o o k. Japanese mangas for yuri tend to be mostly be overly moe, high school girls and I'm not into the cutesty school girl genre really. It's okay, but I prefer working older women and college girls.
With Korean webtoons coming...... reply
~ Me feels soooo muuuch LOVE for both !!!
~1. JAPANESE MANGA:
... i love japanese manga for its depth and subtlety in conveying the complexity of a character's emotions. The black-and-white manga forces the reader to unconsciously focus all their attention in the story's plot, dilemmas/circumstances, characters' body language, and interactions be...... 1 reply
Tbh it's just refreshing and nice to see males being sensitive and actually having emotions on any kind of media, to me it's just about enjoying a story and admiring the nice art that comes with it. I don't feel I sexualize anyone by doing that, I don't fantasize or harass people I know irl or anything. If people aren't uncomfortable with shipping ...... reply
I recently asked myself that too and I found the answer when I swapped the demographic with others I'm into and the answer is no. I love shoujo, josei, shounen, psychological and horror stories, movies etc but there is a difference between these mediums and reality.
BL is interesting because the stakes are higher. In m x f romance stories a faile...... reply
Definitely Korean Webtoons! I like the comic layout a lot more, they're usually colored (which I appreciate), and the storylines are more varied and unique!
[I love manga - the art and stories are great but when it comes to the BL genre, it's pretty lackluster and repetitive. There are certain artists that I enjoy very much, but as i keep reading m...... 1 reply
I totally get what you mean about Korean webtoons. They do indeed feel more realistic, the characters have more depth and the seme doesn't try to rape the uke. I freaking hate how they try to make rape seem romantic, but then again, there are also Japanese manga that are just as good. I think it's because there's so much Japanese bl out there, so y...... 1 reply
Japanese Mangas...It seems that Korean webtoons or manhwas have more unfeeling or uncaring psychos. I especially do not like their ukes...They do have good looking and modern looking characters. My overall preference is yaoi so that's my basis for my reasoning. (▰˘◡˘▰) Lol reply
I prefer Japanese manga more. It's probably out of habit. But I haven't read that much korean webtoons to be honest, so it must just really be a question of preference or something, or me not giving korean webtoons a chance that they deserve.
But I'd probably choose Chinese Manhuas over Korean webtoons anytime. I enjoy Chinese manhuas because the...... 1 reply
i can 100% understand this and relate to this!! what a lot of people tend to not understand is that it's not simply just about girls reading yaoi, but rather about STRAIGHT girls reading yaoi. if ur straight and u prefer yaoi over shoujo then whatever, that's fine, nobody is criminalizing you for that since shoujo often has no depth to their storie...... 1 reply
I like BL in general.
I first got acquainted with yaoi when I was 14 years old. It's something that one way or another you get to know when you've engage yourself into anime and manga, and at this point in time, I started to be hooked on such. I've never actually read a full blown yaoi when I was 14. My first were LightxL doujinshis which I was r...... reply
