Its the teacher's fault not yours. And calling a student "stupid?" Talk about unprofessional. Quite egoistic of them not thinking about their student's situation, he should've just repeated the question( the fact they even mumble stupid tho, no matter how annoyed you are to a student you shouldnt do that)
