Thoughts on illegally uploaded manga
PHEW SO I'd like to see the different views that people have on this. I've thought of the following categories. And if you have more categories please write that first in your comment I'd love to see it! Definitely not required to address all these topics, just an opinion is fine
Online manga uploaded to sites from: 1. existing (printed & published) Manga/Manhwas a) completed or hiatus or discontinued b) updated & ongoing
2. purely online works (webtoons/visual adaptations of web novels) a) made free for creation b) paid for for creation c) also considering discontinued, hiatus, updated consistently, etc for both cases of free or not
And I'd love to see the viewpoint from the following: - readers - uploaders/translation/scanlantion contributors - authors if any! Or those who really got close to putting out work and had to go through the author process
Topics of thought: - upload time after an update? - censorship. That's it. Periodt - blog sites that summarize the plot of a chapter as a neutral zone
Thoughts can be polarizing and will definitely clash. Please be respectful! I don't want any cancel culture in the comments T-T just good open discussion
Since I'm quite interested in this question I may come back to this question from time to time [repost]
You are certainly not wrong for this post (though ironically we are wrongful cause we use this site to read webtoons/mangas for free). I agree with your main points as well, as it is a very strong evidence and logical argument. Though there are other perspectives drawn into arguments such as people who say the classic, “They should be thanking us...... reply
I made a promise with myself that when I'm finally earning I would support the authors that I've read so far Because I also feel guilty with not being able to really financially support them with their hard earned labor. reply
Honestly, most of the stuff I read I wouldn't have read in the first place if they weren't free (by dubious means or otherwise). If there is content that I genuinely enjoy, I go and support the creator. A lot of big mangas, webtoons, etc, owe their popularity to being pirated in the first place.
I think censorship is stupid, but sometimes nothing...... reply
