That one girl in every BL that feteshizes homsexuality
Yeah there’s always that one girl that’s a “fujoshi” in every BL/Shonen ai or whatever. I know it’s supposed to make the reader relate to her but sometimes it’s just crossing the line and annoying. For example, there was this one girl in a webtoon that I don’t remember the name, who literally outed the MC because she “wanted her ship to sail” and from the beginning, she would force herself on the MC as “his best friend”. Even if there wasen’t any huge backlash, it’s still really disrespectful to the MC and it’s just wrong to do that. In the end, they stayed friends because she just gave him a shitty apology saying “I just wanted to help you”.
Some of those characters would force their expectation of a homosexual relationship on real life people. If you relate to them, you’re also part of the problem.
I totally agree with your frustration about “that” type of fujoshi in BL works. It’s just wrong and adds a whole other level of romanticizing homosexual relationships, especially since a large part of the world is still on some bullshit about how LGBTQ+ relationships are wrong (which is dumb as hell- understatement of the year). I really like...... reply
Authors like to put characters like that in their works as a "self-insert" and I find it highly alarming and downright disgusting. Even if it's not a self-insert, it's really lazy to put in a character like that just to get the plot rolling fast. Unprofessional and lazy. 1 reply
The reason I read BL in the first place is because I relate to the male characters more. I don't need her! It's one thing if she is genuinely supportive, but, usually, she is just a distraction. reply
