For me I was usually floored by cramps for the first 12 or so hours and had to use a hot water bottle until the painkillers kicked in usually the third round for me. I found that paracetamol worked for me but you usually find out which painkiller is effective on your cramps though trial and error.

When I was younger and had bad cramps, the doctors regularly prescribed me 600 and 800 mg tablets of Ibuprofen (Advil) and would have me take 2 if it was really bad, but that was a long time ago. Not sure I'd recommend going over 800 nowadays, but regardless of the amount, make sure you take it with food. Ibuprofen can be hard on your stomach and...... 3 reply

Completely your period if cramps are to bad. sometimes it might not be the best choice but if period is to much minera can be an option. I did it and it regulated my period a little better. Hope

If it's an in school exam how about you talk to your teacher and make a suitable time to take it? Or you can go get an injection to numb the pain. If it's a huge exam like SAT's or CIE, just take the strongest painkiller you can be provided with. Take care. reply
On the first day of bad cramps, I take two Tylenol and put/rub either bengay or icy hot my pelvis, and either go to bed or take a long nap. My cramps are usually gone for the rest of my period after doing this. (Don't rub too far in the pubes or into the vagina, it will be painful if you do.
