It was either 1998 or 1999 when I became interested in BL/shounenai, thanks to Interview with the Vampire & the original Hetoic Legend Arslan OAVs.
16 or 17, I guess, is when I decided to go beyond just romance. Yaoi was not readily available in the 90s & early 2000s like it is now, & the internet was slower & less diverce in content.
