Do you prefer Japanese manga or Korean webtoons?
Do you prefer Japanese manga or Korean webtoons? I personally started got into BL because of Japanese manga but as I grow older, I'm starting to prefer Korean Webtoons The characters are usually more mature and the setting is more realistic, the Seme usually doesn't try to rape the uke, the characters feel like real people and it's often funny in a natural way. The series usually lasts for a longer time compared to manga which tends to be shorter.I enjoy the full color and a major reason is that I know Korean so I can enjoy webtoons in the original language without having to wait for translation.
I have more knowledge in BL, so imma talk about BL. But yeah, i think i prefer mangas just because i found more things i like in a manga than a korean webtoon. I really like the feel a manga gave off. I understand both can be really great, but i can still feel the difference between the overall vibe. You can definitely feel the difference between a...... 1 reply
I prefer reading Japanese Mangas.
Theres a lot of diversity in Japanese Manga. Yes, I did read some toxic and bad mangas but exploring other tags is worth it... Theres a lot of shitty ones I admit it but Authors knew how to take a risk. There are stories that made a symbolism for the lgbtq communities in Japan, healthy relationships that dont need...... 1 reply

It varies from author to author but generally I prefer manga. There are a lot of great webtoons that I enjoy too tho. I feel like a lot of people who answered in here have not read the widest selection of manga or webtoons tho I feel like they are generalizing what manga is like and what webtoon...... reply
Both sides are great! I don't have preferences as long as the story is good ^^
Both sides have their ups and downs. I'll give all my thoughts below so feel free to read and reply.
Korean Manhwa may be more preferred because it's usually all in full color but sometimes there are just some titles that don't feel original or the story is extremely sh...... reply
I will always prefer manga. For me, there is almost no contest.
There are some good Korean webtoons, but I haven't personally found many. I really don't see the realism and maturity everyone else does, it's the same as manga on that scale. All the shounen-ai takes literally up until the 497th chapter for them to even hold hands. The smutty stuff ...... 1 reply
Japanese. They have so much detail! So beautiful!
But Korean manhwa has COLORING! That’s really nice, but sometimes annoying if I don’t like the hair color hshdhf reply
Mangas are great for a short read usually & Webtoons are great at getting readers invested in them since they tend to be a lot longer.
So I don't really prefer one over the other, it really depends on the mood & what kind of story I wanna read. Sometimes I just want to read Mangas all day other times I want a good Webtoon to keep me entertained

Manhua is undeniably beautiful but as an artist myself, i can't deny the flagship of the Manga. Those betas, details, screentones are done so meticulously. Even if they're not animated, the impact and flashiness of the Manga leaves a great impression in me. It brings me real happiness as an artist as well. 1 reply
