Who is your favorite mangaka and why?
I'm interested in hearing from you guys since there seems to be a lot of debate in comments of different manga, pertaining to the mangaka.
So, I'll go first. Mine would have to be, after a lot of consideration, Harada-sensei.
I know; odd.
The reason I like her so much is not for the dark theme (in fact, I typically avoid dark like the plague), but I can't stay away from her work and she's one of my go-to mangaka when I don't know what to read. Will avoid some of her work? Yes (Nii-chan, comes to mind).
But I think the main reason why love her work so much is that she is best, as far as I've experienced, at expressing just raw, intense emotion. Example in point, the scene in Yatamomo where Momo has a break down and is just bawling his eyes out. It was the first time that I felt the pain of the protagonist rather than just watching it.
But all in all, this raw energy and emotion is the reason why I love Harada-sensei.
I love Hana Hasumi that has made Remnant Kemonohito and Ayane Ukyou that has made the Kuroneko Kareshi series!!
They both just have such beautiful art styles ⁄(⁄ ⁄·⁄ω⁄·⁄ ⁄)⁄ reply
Hmmmm I gotta go with either Yamamori Mika (here are some of the art):
Or possibly Hinohara Meguru
(Here is some of the art):
Or maybe Eiji nagisa/NAGISA Eiji

I don't really have a favorite mangaka. But if I had to choose, I'd say I enjoy the works of Yamamori Mika. I like the art style and the way of story-telling, I also enjoy that (the works I've read) aren't too predictable, cliche and that the characters behave in a more realistic way. reply
Absolutely Harada. Hands down. But I also agree with Hinohara Meguru, and I'll add Scarlet Beriko. I also like the Mangakas of Candy Colour Paradox and Neko x Neko for some fun fluff. reply
Hinohara Meguro
All their works are my favs and the art is just immaculate
Harada-sensei, they address the dark themes they bring in their mangas as they should be and their writing is just great. And they are so good at expressing raw, intense emotions as OP said. Plus their art style goes so well with that.
