Some do, some don't. People generalize a lot and yeah, there are many reasons why people would think people who read yaoi objectify gay men. But as in everything else, you can't put all people in the same bag. Everyone's different and everyone has different reasons to read yaoi. I personally have trouble liking female characters in manga and anime ......   2 reply

I can only speak for myself- However, I'd have to deny that statement. I realise that manga and reality and two separate entities, as I'm sure some others will as well. The only reason I read yaoi/yuri is because I'm lonely. I don't read it to fetishize friends or people who I meet who are homosexual- Because, In a way, that's just disrespectful.   1 reply

Speaking as a bi dude, you have to realize that you do have an obsession with a media that tends to almost always represents us as completely ignorant of consent, hyper-conforming to weird heterosexual gender roles in regards to personality, behavior, and bedroom activity. When that stuff plays into how you see men in real life and start telling gu......   reply

I mean, let's be honest here. Even if fujos aren't by definition "fetishizing", and that's a BIG "if" (there's more than enough just on this site to make the case that they are), they are 1000% objectifying, and there's still a billion and one other issues that seriously need to be addressed besides that. Like the fact that y'all seem to think tha......   1 reply

I like yaoi because i don't like the way female characters are represented in shoujo. they are always this damsel in distress and that's fucking annyoing. Not to mention the harem. I like romance but i don't like the romance they portray in shoujo. i like the one they portray in yaoi or shonen ai. what bl accomplishes in 6 chapters, shoujo doesn't ......   7 reply

Personally I’m not entirely sure If I fetishize gay men in real life, rarely I may be bored in line some where and see a guy with an ideal back or dress nicely and would wonder if he’d make a good seme, uke or reversible. So it’s sort of men in general, we ladies like men. I don’t go to watch actual gay porn sites, I also don’t judge an......   2 reply

I don't think it's true but honestly, if people want to say that I fetishize gay men because I read yaoi then ok... lol. I can't even force myself to care at this point. At the end of the day, I'm going to read/watch what I like rather its yaoi manga or huge oppai Hentai. but no matter what I enjoy in fiction I will always treat REAL people with r......   reply

The answer is; don't be a hippocrit. If you object to men enjoying lesbian pornography the yes this is bad too. Really though, we aren't hurting anyone and actualy, in more repressive comunitys (like mine growing up) The only positive interaction I would have with even the idea of homosexuality was through books (more wattpad books than manga as a ......   reply
