Why are there so many people reading yaoi but are uncomfortable?
I’m starting to see a wave of complainers on comment section on almost every manga. Wether if it’s because of the gore or rape scenes in it. Aren’t we reading yaois because we want to take a break from the mundane? We dive into these ridiculous storylines for fun or excitement. It’s like I see people purposely deciding to watch a horror movie but then know it in themselves that they can’t stand horror. Are people just hate-binging? Is this a thing?
It’s tiring to see people comparing rape with murder in fiction. Murder is way less romantized than rape. The problem is not the presence of something in itself but the romantization, that’s when it becomes dangerous.
And murder is not as common as rape IRL. It’s likely that you have a rape victim or even a rapist among your acquaintances. ...... 1 reply
