Japan is homogenous. You cant expect mangaka to magically diversify their cast just because stefani from Cali asks. Theres some great anime out and that are coming out with POC characters that aren't just asian. They need to stop being ignored just so people can complain about lack of diversity in *other* shows. I agree. For example, there was a user who complained that picrew weren't diverse enough, but failed to remember that they were judging from a western point of view. I'm pretty sure that Japan isn't an immigrant country, or at least, not as much as America for example. They have way less number of POCs. reply
I agree as well . It's inherently eurocentric of you fucks to think that everything is gonna magically change once someone points it at . Like , yeah , there needs to be more diversity but looking at everything through a western POV is what creates problems . reply
Korean, Chinese, Japanese people live in an entirely different way and environment than the west. The three of them are also very different from each other if a comparison is being made. yeah, definitely if we're talking about racial diversity. japan is pretty homogeneous, so it completely makes sense that their media doesn't show too many people that aren't asian. but that obviously doesn't mean that they're excused from scrutiny on racist content or anything 1 reply
