I just found out that apparently shounen ai translates to little boy love/loving little boys and usually referred to work depicting boy/adult relationships?? WHY DOES THE WEST USE THE WEIRDEST JAPANESE TERMS TO REFER TO SWEET BLS WTF.
Shounen means boy, ai means love, its basically just boy’s love, i have no idea where you got the lil boy part from, but i wanna know where, alsodontworryjapanhasweirderterms, it was also dropped by japan due to it implying pedestry, we’re using outdated terms actually, they just say bl there reply
shounen means boy. shoujo means girl. ai means love. idk where u heard this but its exactly the same as saying bl or gl. i mean what else cld they possibly call it 1 reply
I always thought that shounen/shoujo ai referred that it was literally boys/girls in the sense of it being more focused on romance and having little to no eroticism, not that there was pedophilia... 1 reply

I thought shounen means "boy" so boy's love. So I though it was like mlm, not necessarily a little boy. Cause what I've seen from the genre is it's mlm without the smut. And isn't the one with underage ones shotacon? So is this meaning of Shounen ai like a mistranslation from japanese to english or something? reply
