@black genshin players
What do you think about Eula’s backstory? If y’all don’t know already, Eula is currently in hot water on genshin twt (ofc it’s genshin twt) because her ancestors owned slaves. Genshin made it clear that she was against what her ancestors have done, and that she is distancing herself from her family name. Everyone is arguing whether this character is problematic or not. What are your opinions?
And POC genshin players, what is your opinion on all these boycotts and controversies surrounding Genshin? If you’re not active on Genshin twt, all of this may sound very confusing, but iykyk
I’ll post my opinion down later so the conversation isn’t centered around what I say
People are being dramatic. I feel like there's literally nothing controversial about eulia's backstory. Slavery was a thing and as always been a thing it still happens in modern days. People trying to boycott a company for crafting a character that is trying to better the old ways of her family just feels petty. Like i would understand it more if i...... reply
(As a black poc who loves genshin to death)
Uh yeah, it's something I really don't care about. If people are uncomfortable then they have a right to be and stop playing the game, but just don't hunt down and fight people who still do. I on the other hand don't care about the fact Eula's ancestors were slave owners. I mean let's be honest here, sla...... 1 reply
Well if she is against what her family has done, then i don't see the problem at all. She's not like her ancestors its not her fault they owned slaves , It would be a whole different story if she didn't care at all. reply
Her family owned slaves not her she has no control over what her family does? So she's not problematic the rest of her family that does have slaves are the ones that are problematic ._. It's really not that hard to understand people just want to create drama 2 reply
The backstory was completely unecessary and could have been something different... idc if she is "distancing herself" from her family she's still rude to begin with LOL
The boycott Genshin thing was so dumb because the people tweeting it only started because someone lied and said that Inazuma was being kept from us for more profit, and people went...... 1 reply
yo yo mixed person here !!
personally i dont mind it much. i love genshin a lot and i felt a bit disgusted at first but it is true eula doesnt agree with her past and i believe shes trying to return her families reputation reply
first off can i just say one slightly unrelated thing: your use of “poc” here doesn’t rlly make sense under the context of sharing opinion about the “genshin drama” bc the creator of genshin themselves are poc. they are chinese, which is a minority in the west. anyways moving on
i genuinely cannot see how people would find this problemat...... 1 reply
im not a genshin player, but i am black lol. what would be concerning to me is if the inclusion of stating that her parents owning slaves was in anyway imperative to the story or character as a whole. if its just some random detail tacked onto her character, then i'd question as to why it was necessary to add it to her description in the first plac...... reply
