I'm just curious on how many of you guys have depression. Further more, I would like to know whether you were self diagnosed or not or how you feel about self diagnoses.
See, the reason why I'm asking this is because my class was having a lesson on well being/mental health and the teacher had said that you should never self diagnose yourself with depression, because it could be dangerous and worsen your mental state.
BTW I don't have depression nor self diagnosed depression, but I've just been wondering since I know many of you here self diagnosed yourselves with depression.
I tend to wonder if this site (this group of people in general) has a disproportionate number of people with depression, or if as a society there’s just more than we want to pay attention to.
I also wonder if maybe some of the people here who think they are depressed and weird are maybe still grappling with puberty (it’s a lot longer than you...... 1 reply

I went to the psychiatrist last year and she diagnosed me with depression,that being said what i say here is purely my opinion.

I have it and was diagnosed by my doctor. Currently doing ok, getting everything sorted out. I sort of agree with the opinion that it’s bad to self-diagnose but strongly recommend that if you suspect it, please go to a doctor or mental health professional to confirm it. And honnetly I think your teacher's wrong, it's worse feeling how I've been feeling for YEARS and just going "oh I can't self diagnose!", deep down knowing there's something but forcing myself not to look into it because...
