Thoughts on calling Male omega's who give birth, Mom?
Does anyone else dislike that in a number of omegaverse yaoi, male omega's who give birth are called Mom? As opposed to being called Dad, Father, etc.
What are you all's thoughts on this? I've just been wondering if anyone else feels the same way or not... because it low-key makes me feel uncomfortable tbh and I've never really seen comments about this particular subject myself. So I wanted to ask.
it is so fucking stupid if you think about it, just imagine a child has two moms and it calls one of the moms dad, like that is so disgusting and heteronormative reply
I fucking hate omegaverse. Fuck yo heteronormativity... Mfs doing mental hola hoops to get a man to be more like a stereotypical woman while maintaining the gay factor. I always thought it was really weird and uncomfy as a lesbian. Imagine you are a woman and married to a nice woman and adopt a child or have a child. It would be weird for the child...... reply
Personally, very uncomfortable! I, myself identifies as a man but is still equally comfortable with people using generally feminine titles, so I get it! At the same time, I haven't seen enough BL-ABO omega being called dad/father/papa/etc., just yet (or at all, my memory is hazy). It also lowkey reminds me of how much heteronormative society is, ga...... reply
Probably the same way I feel about people and the way bl just splits up people in the relationship as either the top or bottom. Whenever I see a comment talking about what's going on in that chapter, they don't even bother remembering the name of the characters, but instead go straight into "Seme/Uke" labelling. It's just as dismissive as believing...... reply
Omg a pet peeve ive been thinking about alot lately. A mother is the female parent. Gay men aren't women and don't want to be. That stigma is annoying as hell. But then this is female authors assuming what they know about gay relationships and conveniently doing what they can to feminize bottoms. Again. reply
i could be wrong and i understand if you disagree but i thought they called omegas moms because they are the ones who give birth, in omega verse the people who give birth are moms and the ones who don't are dads regardless of gender considering there meaning of mom doesn't associate with women in a world where where both genders can give birth, lik...... reply
I honestly think it's all right. A lot of the comments on here saying it's heteronormative. I don't think it's that exactly. Cuz it all depends on how the other person feels about it. Like the person who's been called mom. Cuz maybe perhaps they encourage it, or perhaps the character itself thinks it's appropriate since they did give birth to the ...... 1 reply
While I do think that it is a little overused, personally I'm fine with both. Someone mentioned above and that calling the maternal donor mom is completely fine and I agree with that. we call the earth 'mother earth' and the two cells that result from mitosis 'daughter cells' despite them not having genders and there's nothing strange about that. o...... reply
