For example in anime like Free Iwatobi the shota of the group would be Nagisa, he isn't a small child, he's already a high schooler. Sooo it is normal to feel attraction towards childlike adults and in theory also towards children. Since humans reach it at around the age of 12-14 (which are still perceived as children by society), it is normal to feel attracted to those 'children'. Mothers think of their 14 yo daughters having sex with strangers and get horrified and that's fine. Only feeling attracted to children that have yet to reach sexual maturity is unnormal. So is feeling sexual desire towards children. People who do, need therapy.
