In my mid teens, that was back in the 80's before manga was as easy to find as it is today. Back then, you could find titles in the Boys Love genre, but I don't remember much, if any, explicit stuff being available where I was. It's much different now! 25 or 30 years ago I found mostly the "shounen ai"
