My parents think I’m a lesbian and I’m straight
My mom told me that both her and my dad think that I’m a lesbian because all of my friends are in the LGBT+ community somehow or another. I’m straight and I feel like I’ve told her so many times. She says I’m obsessed with gay people and it’s like no... I just like RuPaul’s Drag Race sometimes!
Also, not sure if this is relevant but I live in a conservative household and I thought my mom was pretty accepting but the more I listen maybe not.
Am I wrong to feel a little insulted that she doesn’t believe me?
Your parent´s reaction could be because they´re rushing you into having a partner, but that's a pretty toxic attitude. You don't have to prove anything to anyone, and with your story, I really feel that it's just a not only toxic but also homophobic attitude on their part. reply
