Yaoi lovers, do you consider yourself a fujoshi? Why/why not?
I read a ton of yaoi all the time, and I enjoy it a lot, but I don't really consider myself a fujoshi. I think it's mainly because I never ship any characters together. I understand why people do ship characters, but personally I don't have any emotional appeal to ships. I read yaoi mainly out of boredom like for entertainment, so I only get emotionally invested in the story like half of the time so I never really care about ships or who ends up together in a story. I just read to see how the author decides to develop the story and who they favor at the end.
I don't consider myself as a fujoshi for a few reasons
1) a lot of people think fujoshis are bad people so they are kind of hated by some people but i don't see why
2) I don't always ship guys i just ship people who seem good together whether it is guys together, girls together or anyone i think it's better to focus on who would be good together n...... reply
well, fujoshis are females who read yaoi, not who ship yaoi characters lol so you are a fujoshi, I am a fujoshi. Saying you're not one it's like saying a dog is not a dog because it doesn't bark 24h/7. "It has a bad connotation" ZZZZzzZZ so does feminism, nihilism, and a bunch of other stuff. Just because people think X of something doesn't make me...... reply
Yeah, because in my opinion, there are many relationships that I personally should have been better with guyxguy but y'know some media isn't very keen on that so. And when there is I enjoy it maybe even a little more than straight relationships b/c fuck idk, they seem more intimate and more connection? Also the good BL stories have such good plot a...... 1 reply
I mean i'd say i'm a bit half, not full? because fujoshi to me is full on love mode towards any gay related stuff. While i am technically like that, i still ship some hetero couples rather than the gay one (i/e: kuroko no basket). And i never really shipped any yaoi characters together just because there's no point since "it's in your face" type of...... reply
I love yaoi but I would not consider myself a fujoshi. I like BL a lot I read a lot of it but I also know when to separate myself from it. The only time I ever think about BL is when I am reading it in fiction. To me being a fujoshi is when you mainly ship BxB in any type of media, when you become attached to a male character purely because they ar...... reply
I've found that there's a rather negative connotation associated with the term fujoshi... I think it implies you fetishize m/m love. Since I don't enjoy reading yaoi for that reason, I don't think I'd assign that label to myself. I just enjoy reading stories that feature love between two men because I enjoy seeing men in more vulnerable situations ...... reply
Not really no, I often try to distance myself from the fujoshi label, as it does have negative connotations. And just like you, I don't really ship characters like my other fujoshi friends. My friends automatically assume that if you like BL, then you like BL ships. Both in real life and non-BL media. But like, I don't do that. I don't go crazy ove...... reply
