Yaoi lovers, do you consider yourself a fujoshi? Why/why not?
I read a ton of yaoi all the time, and I enjoy it a lot, but I don't really consider myself a fujoshi. I think it's mainly because I never ship any characters together. I understand why people do ship characters, but personally I don't have any emotional appeal to ships. I read yaoi mainly out of boredom like for entertainment, so I only get emotionally invested in the story like half of the time so I never really care about ships or who ends up together in a story. I just read to see how the author decides to develop the story and who they favor at the end.
Fujoshi = female who loves reading BL. Just to make it clear.
The term is only pejorative in Japan and that has nothing to do with fetishising or shipping M/M. They're just called "rotten" because they don't follow the "right patch", be a good girl, smile and don't do anything embarassing (reading sexual/LGBT stories are).
And of course I'm a fujo...... reply
I've read over 400 manga series so considering that the yaoi genre would only amount to maybe 20% or less of the manga I have ever read as a rough esitamte I would have to say no despite the fact that I fit the definition pretty well. I do love to read yaoi and I do ship characters however yaoi is only a small portion of the manga that I read. Tech...... reply
