Do you ever feel like your anime interests don't align with your friends' anime interests?
For example, I have friends who like anime like I do, but I feel like there's some kind of scale for liking anime with them, and we all fall in different places.
So, I like reading manga, watching anime, and playing video games. I prefer it when what I'm reading, watching, playing has a really good story with characters that I can care about. I also frequently find myself having massive crushes on some male characters, finding them very attractive and things like that. Though I'm not much of a shipper. I also like reading BL/Yaoi/Shounen ai, though I'm pretty much in the closet about that.
Then there's my friend, who I think watches anime a bit more casually if such a thing is possible? I don't know, I get that vibe a lot. She'll sometimes play games that are quick and easy and kind of popular, or sometimes she'll play something I recommend. But, she doesn't get as obsessive as I do lol. Which is fine for her I guess. But I also think she finds it weird if people call anime characters "hot" or "attractive" because they're fictional, and you can't like them that way then.
I've got another friend who's more into anime, and she can be obsessive over the characters, and find them attractive to some degree. But she also thinks having a crush on them is weird, I think.
Then I've got my fujoshi friends, who really love all things BL and enjoy shipping guys with each other in various mediums. Since I'm not much of a shipper, we can clash over that sometimes, haha. Of course, this makes most of my friends think I dislike BL. Since I keep my interest secret, I don't really correct them.
Anyway, the point is, even though I do have friends who are into anime like I am, I don't feel like I can quite openly discuss all my anime obsessions and feelings with them, which kind of makes me feel sad. Because sometimes you gotta rant over what your favorite anime character crush is doing in the latest episode and how cute he was OK!
TL;DR My friends who also like anime all like it to varying degrees and would probably find me super weird for having anime crushes.
Does anyone else have friends like that?
