This might be controversial im not sure...so i was looking for some cute black girl pfp to use and i came across this.

I feel like some asians would be extremely uncomfortable with it and if you do im so sorry that theres people doing this. Ive seen people on tiktok who edits asian genshin impact characters to be black too and people in the comments were furious.

I as a black women gets mad when people whitewash poc characters, but when we do the same thing as those people..this doesnt sit right with me.

What do you guys think about editing an asian character to be black? I dont think a 'its a fictional character' excuse works well here since most people here (myself included) preach a lot about 'its not just fiction'

I Think If Certain People Or Groups Want Representation In Anime, Manga, Comics Or Any Other Type Of Art Form, They Should Come Up With Original Characters Instead Of Chaining A Creator(s) Original Characters.

Its Really Disrespectful and Rude For The Creator(s) And Team(Studio) Since They Probably Put A lot Of Work Into The Character. Either Way White washing or Black washing Is Just Harmful.

I'm a Chinese immigrant, and frankly I don't care. I know a lot of people dislike when people change Asian characters to black and it's valid but I don't see the point of making a east asian character black. I don't see what it accomplishes. Anything that it can accomplish can also be accomplished with an oc. So like whatever do what you want but this stuff really doesn't change anything. I mean I see both sides of the argument. Imagine you take a black character and make them east asian with lighter skin and say "blasians exist!". Well thats not right obviously because you're erasing their race. So why is the opposite okay? At the same time black people want to see themselves represented in media and I understand the frustration. So what I'm saying is if you wanna make another poc character black sure. Go ahead but let us know you understand they are actually another race in cannon. I'm gonna be honest, those pfps are cute as hell who am i to stop people from making them? Who is it hurting really? What us asians dislike is the message BEHIND it when some of you guys attempt to explain why it is okay. Most of us honsetly don't care about the pfps just how some of yall attempt to explain it.

I feel like in the first one the person only wanted to draw themselves as the character and used yaorozu as a model.

this just doesn't feel right with me, it's the same feeling i got when someone whitewashed a black/character with dark skin

Editing a character to be another race is always a bad thing, especially when people say they 'fixed' them. Like as an artist I would find it extremely disrespectful...idk. For example there are a lot of people who say Kaeya from Genshin is black and when an artist draws them more light skinned cuz of the lighting or smth, they make an edit saying they 'fixed him' where they only make him darker than he actually is. Kaeya was also confirmed to be tan, not black, but when someone points it they just refuse to listen.
idk I hope I made sense
