The BL genre
Why do women keep making BLs with rape or incest in it animated or they make them popular? i'm so tired...and also the ones that get popular always the ugliest ART, it's so hard being gay guy in the bl fandom/community, i can't even read SMUT because it's obviously not catered toward me
Because apparently "exploring your sexuality" by creating and consuming things other than straight content that treated you like objects means going and doing the same thing to other people instead and pretending that you're not doing exactly the kind of things you claim to be trying to get away from.
Don't wanna hear another fujo claim they're an...... 1 reply
Because that's what the target audience, fujoshis like/want to read. They would rather read an unrealistic BL story with romanticized rape than an actually realistic BL story with decent LGBTQ+ representation. reply
Why should people not do that? There are Thriller and Horror movies/books where people enjoy the slaughter of characters as well as the chase for the killer. Do you also oppose video games where the gamer can actually kill people?
Where do you set your boundaries with those? I have no problems with any of them, even though I am not a gamer and pref...... 3 reply
Honestly no events in history relating to the development of how yaoi came to be or not can justify the blatant bullshit the focal audience and also the subject ; gay men ; is imposed to and served.
It’s uncomfortable being commercialised into a fucking fetish and there can be no justifications for derogating an entire community into an object ...... reply
True though, you can tell who the content is catered to, it’s so heartbreaking to see queers get fetishized and misrepresented by people who aren’t even in the goddamn community. that’s why I rarely get to read actual WLW because most of it is catered towards men, be it porn, hentai, nsfw fanart or a comic. It’s the same for gay men. Queer ...... reply
I'm not sure about the rape part but a lot of the authors of bl's are women who cater to their biggest audience which are women who mostly want this exaggerated story about two men instead of an genuine story about two gay men falling in love.so which is why there is a big misperception of gay men of how they are and how their relationships work be...... 1 reply
Mostly because of the plot or art style but as long as they know the difference between reality and fictional I think it's perfectly fine and yes it's mostly made by woman for woman but please keep in mind some audience are boys and some authors are also boys:) 2 reply
smut in general is a very problematic genre. most popular stories make "bottoms" (both men and women) as weak and dumb while falling in love with the people who basically manipulated and used them for their own pleasure. the fact that this is such a popular trope in smut still boggles my mind tbh reply
because they don't want to see a depiction of a realistic gay relationship. fantasy is fine and all, and its okay for rape and abuse and things to be in there bcs its a story after all, plots will differ, but it's just gotten to a point where its almost never presented properly, and almost always romanticized. its so fucked up how saying no is sup...... 1 reply
