While it's true it was used as a derogatory insult against asian people to comment on their eyes and generally smaller body size, it's also used as an insult to people in general. Rats are generally associated with uncleanliness and in the middle ages (500 to 1400–1500 CE) it even caused the bubonic plague; so it's not like when the word "rat" wa...... reply
