self diagnosing?
Why do people act like self-diagnosing is so harmful? like it's understandable if someone was going around and spreading misinfo about an illness and romanticizing it, but most people who self diagnose aren't doing it for attention and aren't making tiktok accounts dedicated to their illness, it's just that the ones who are doing it for attention GET THE MOST ATTENTION, I self-diagnosed with depression, and guess what? I just got officially diagnosed with severe depression, it's not that hard to do as long as you use trustable sources(hospital sites, gov sites, DSM, etc.) but even if you self-diagnose, try your hardest to get an official diagnosis
PS, most people who self-diagnose don't have easy access to health care (including me)
tbh i believe self dxing isnt all that harmful as long as you DO YOUR RESEARCH.

and even now? i know i have either DID or OSDD1A, because i know my mi...... 1 reply

I think as long as you do your research and you know you have it it's not bad. Though it's better to see a professional and actually confirm it (if you can). reply
There are actually lots of reasons self diagnosing can be deemed harmful.
1. Some people will self treat based on their diagnosis and the diagnosis could be incorrect as could the treatment. There can be a variety of treatment options based on a lot of data like age, gender, existing medications, pre existing conditions, allergies, compliance, urg...... reply
It's not that its harmful, just that it's better to get the opinion of a professional. Overall, it wont too much harm but if you choose to do so, you can choose incorrect medication, make the wrong diagnosis, and you won't get proper treatment. Just my opinion 1 reply
