Everyone has their own moral compass. My two cents? Pedophilia and rape are much more vile than murder. There may be certain circumstances in which murder can be justified e.g. self-defense, revenge, vigilantism, etc.

Maybe coz lots of us have been the victim of pedos and/or rapists but none of us have been murdered? Plus, it can be seen as forgivable to murder some vile people (like pedos and rapists) so if the murderer targets those who are scum it can get the whole vigilante tick of approval.

Let's be real. Whether it's rape or its murder, it's still occurring in a fictional medium that isn't injuring or hurting anyone irl. It's not real. I think it's because the readers don't have the attachment nor any care and thought of what the victims or side characters are feeling because their story ends right there, while a pedo/rapist would let their victims live and we sometimes see how pitiful they are and (kinda) understand how they feel so readers get attached. I feel like (Tw another opinion) murder in fiction has been so normalized and possibly that it’s hard to imagine in real life, while rape is something that more ppl take seriously bc they deem it as something that seems more likely to happen around them (even though they’re both just as likely)
