And then you learn that’s your cousin and start thinking “i need to get out of this town” and just refuse to have a crush on anyone there ever again bc you realize damn near everyone there is related you and you dont know if thats your first cousin or like your 6th cousin cos they all hang out together like close family so they may as well just all be your first cousins
That happened to my mom in the same town. But they actually dated and then when they realized they were related, they broke up. And also my mom is her sister’s husband’s cousin. And the only reason thats not incest is bc my mom and aunt have different fathers so my mom and her brother in law are also cousins, but my aunt and her husband are unrelated.
Anyway, im glad i left that town and the crazy family dynamics

As someone that is black in the south, I am so glad I never experienced that shit, my grandfather has like 5+ siblings and my grandma had 10+ siblings and all but the first born were all treated terribly and it was all so bad that she straight up didn't know about many of her siblings.
