So why do you guys read bl?
For me I read bl because I'm a jealous person so when I read bl it's automatic that the characters ain't liking me (romantically), but in straight romance there's ml and fl only so I (kinda) have a chance so my delusional self having thoughts of marrying them, being lovely dovely, them hot mls doing the greenest thing to me, and then remembering that they have a partner plus being fictional, so I cry till my eyes are swollen because I envy them. Lol
to let my tears out or to see fictional gay ppl have happy relationships and be jealous or happy for them knowing that 95% people in my country are homophobic so i can barely date any good guys 1 reply
I just love drama in general. And enjoy the romance: wondering what will happen to the chara, will they end together etc. I don't self insert. I cheer for the characters to be together. ٩(๑❛ᴗ❛๑)۶ Ofc hetero / yuri romance are great too but since some romance scenarios and couples are unpredictable and wild in BL, I tend to check them...... 1 reply
Why do I totally get this? Like, same reason I'm into reading bl. 'Cause in bl, there's no character I can really relate to, 'cause they're both dudes. So, I'm just there for their story, not trying to insert myself into it, you know? reply
I'm on the aro-ace spectrum and I noticed I would feel really uncomfortable whenever I see heterosexual relationship being portrayed. As a woman, I can put myself on their shoes and I hate it, so I would rather read romance where my gender is not in it at all. First of all the drama and characters are fun and stories are pretty great. I also love watching guys get together and them being however they wanna be and feel super happy for them. I don't get jealous or anything of the mc but yes since me too is delusional I be recreating people I want to be with kinda(?) IN my head and and just have fun lol. AL...... reply
From my experience, BL just offers a lot more than GL and SL, 'cause the ones that I've read, women drawn in SL and GL are either over sexualized, have horrible characters, or the plots of them are JUST romance or sex.
But idk if I should blame that on my lack knowledge in either genres or if it's really because SL and GL don't offer much regardin...... reply
