I think it’s no surprise that bl/ yaoi contains a lot of taboo or problematic themes, but why is incest so common. I don’t even mean step siblings but blood relations. Like I don’t see the appeal and why so many authors would choose incest to be part or the central theme of their stories.
Tbh for me it’s not mostly forbidden love, it’s more like author doesn’t know how to introduce mc with other people or maybe a fast way for someone to be intimate or close to mc is being part of the family who knows them deeply or smth roommates shtick.
