about that BL bed trope, why fujos should read gay BL authors

magicmau5 magicmau5 2023-10-07 23:34:10 About not get out of bed
Some thoughts on that BL trope (it's used frequently in both shounen ai and yaoi) of not being able to get out of bed due to sex. Newflash, it's not necessarily true IRL, seems to depend on each gay person... this opinion is just based on some shit I read on a gay subreddit here https://www.reddit.com/r/askgaybros/comments/h8s8ck/questions_about_sex_from_a_yaoi_reader/

A couple interesting responses:
Anon gay bro who thinks the trope is ridiculous

Versus a gay bro who thinks a sex session should be more vigorous and ensure he feels sore after (*≧▽≦)

The bottom line is: perty perty please , a heartfelt request to the straight fujoshi and fudanshi hoes 'n bros!!! Never expect that some gay shit depicted in 2D is completely applicable to gay couples in 3D. And the LGBTQ fujo/fudans out there, please don't have some unrealistic expectations about gay relationships or sexual practices just by reading some manga created by straight artists.

Don't limit your imagination to stuff created by steel straight people who are often creating BL and GL in order to earn some $$$ by catering to a certain consumer demographic.

Too often, I see straight authors/artists creating embarrassing gay characters while basically not bothering to do research on gay sexual practices or normal behavior. These authors mainly want to increase their readership by using tired or even offensive clichés, but after a while it gets both boring and annoying. Anyone who has read a lot of BL can attest to that!

This isn't limited to the BL genre, because the whole reason I turned to reading gay shit is due to the fact that the BG heroines I read about were almost exclusively annoying bitches!

Although it takes a little more effort, imho it's better to read content created by gay/queer folks if you're interested in BL or GL.

A good example is the author Alexis Hall, who writes Western BL novels (my fave is the novel Glitterland, which I found in my local library). Some similar authors are listed here: https://www.reddit.com/r/LGBTBooks/comments/yaw0mb/gay_male_romance_mm_authors/
For BL by Asian gay artists/authors, you can read the comments on this reddit post, which lists several gay mangakas and film/drama directors too https://www.reddit.com/r/boyslove/comments/qu6k3u/is_there_any_bl_that_is_written_by_an_actual_gay/

I also wanted to mention that if a straight hoe is interested in writing about BL or just curious about how gay sex feels like, there are actual published reference material available that you can check out from your library or stealthily order on Amazon! One is called The Joy of Gay Sex https://a.co/d/jlP5ftp but it's an older one written in the 70s before AIDs epidemic!
And some guides here https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/116479.Gay_Sex_Guides_
A good book that's just about the lives of some young gay guys
