i am so sick of the trope where all the characters in a manhwa/manga comment on how the ml is an insanely handsome god of a man while mc is plain and not worthy of the attention of such a beautiful specimen. being plain isn't the problem, it's how all the characters comment on the pair in disbelief and it's such a big plot point. i feel like i'm not conveying this properly, but istg i see it everywhere. it's whatever

Nah fr I feel like it plays into the authors fantasy of being swept up by a prince like character even though they themselves are average. I know it’s fictional story’s but it’s so unrealistic like at least make the mc unique or add a little spice like damn who wants a plain Jane ass mc ts boring. reply
honestly i think it’s because the MC is meant to be a self insert for the readers hence why the MC is very plain so that every reader can imagine themselves in their shoes — this is very common in most romance/harem manga reply
I get the self insert intentions thingy mabob but what I've noticed over time is that works that contain MCs with actual personalities are appreciated and become more beloved by its readers. The ones with the self insert trope usually just get read out of boredom and are forgotten after. I appreciate every single one of them and their hard work but...... reply
