Just saw this video on TikTok of this girl trying to act edgy about how true crime didn't affect her and this really got me thinking how much the genres dehumanizes the victims and glamorize the killers...i mean just a year ago the Jeffrey Dahmer show came out and people made fucking edits of it and turned it into a meme ☹ the families of the victims are still alive and talked about how the show reopened old wounds ┗( T﹏T )┛
True crime was the natural progression capitalism + necropolitics would go in. Profiting off the sensationalism of peoples death has been going on before (current) true crime, it’s just the same thing happening in a different font.
