what are YOUR bl pet peeves. for example mine is miscommunication and a whiny weak bottom that doesn't stand up for himself. or a rushed plot. feel free to give examples i'm bored and want to rant

I hateeee when like the two mc meet and and one of them (often the ML) acts in the most despicable way you can imagine (jinx, lost in the cloud??, a love story caused by willful negligence???) and the author still finds a way for them to date like nothing ever happened 3 reply
I have so, so many. I don't even know where to begin. Here's a non-exhaustive list, in no particular order:
- drunken one-night stands, especially when that's how the BL starts out
- teacher x student
- boss x subordinate
- falling in "love" at first sight
- sex in the first chapter
- sex without any kind of preparation whatsoever (I'm sorry but y...... reply
Adding a random sexual assault/attempted rape scene just so ml can save the mc - even worse them having sex right after what is a traumatic experience reply
the words ‘girlfriend, straight, i’m not gay’ being used as buzzwords off a checklist but not meaningful in any way towards a character’s development.
rather than using it sparingly to talk about a character’s grapple with internalised homophobia, it just looks homophobic by the writers. it’s glazed off so suddenly.

a trashy top frr at this point, like i know so many good tropes that have an enemies to lover or someone was bad then changed for the better, and they have a special place in my heart. but why overdo it? they give tops sooo many problems that the top lets out on the bottom, and then they're in love and the cutest couple??? plus the bottom just endu...... 1 reply
