Why is R so common and even glorified in manga
When watching a crime related video about illegal sex chat rooms, blackmailing, sexual asaults etc. I realised that it's so fucking common. Especially in the whole yaoi category. Why do so many of these so called authors write r scenes that don't even make sense. It feels like they are relieving their sicko fantasies by making such stories and releasing it to the public. Sure, it may be so important for the story development. But honestly, is it always like that? Are there truly no other options to develop the story besides r. I've seen so many of these bs stories that would have the other character be assaulted and the comments would be like ,,oh, but he didn't complain. He enjoyed it. He consented. It's a part of the story" like be ffr. There is a line between assault that's been added there for the sake of the story with actual plot. And assault that's been added there just for some horny fucks to relieve themselves.
Also I'm writing this in a hurry, my apologies if shit doesn't make sense
The worst part is when they give them r-ists a sad back story..or something like having a trauma...I accept i enjoy reading smut..but what's the point when all you see is no and stop like come on...like the mad dog side story.. bro ruined the whole shit..and then they started with the it's just fiction..like people even if it's fiction it does affe...... 1 reply
Yaoi was developed in a time where women in Shoujo manga were usually assaulted and treated badly while men were portrayed as strong and bold so some authors used two guys to explore an equal dynamic and get creative with plots. This got shifted as it became more mainstream to make one guy effeminate and essentially the subject of a "lesser role".

I find most yaoi readers to be lacking in love or brains, so they think the "I need you no matter what" trope is good (which, frankly is where most of that shit comes from) because they know no one will ever like themself like that.
Some of it is also probably the 'forbidden-ness' of it. Like, BL is still viewed as pretty ig forbidden in some sens...... 1 reply
Authors know that out there (within these comments) there are people who get turned on by rape because they have mental issues they gotta fix or they hate others having a happy life when they don't. reply
Based on my small knowledge about this matter but here are some reason why
1. They just like that trope
2. One of bl biggest selling points is the sex scene. And most author would want to gain as many viewers from the first chapter but the story they are writing is falling in love story (either mc/ml isn't mutually in love with the lead yet) so ...... 1 reply
Honestly r being added when it isn't even needed may but be a wild fantasy the author has because I have heard about books or mangas where authors add stuff they want to do or want to be done to them. I mean we can't always be sure it is a weird fetish but most of the time it is. Let's say a person wrote a story which has amazing plot but then rand...... reply
Exactly, like there's so many other ways to develop character relationships, like sure it's one way to do it but its just so.. idk how to say this but like, a lot of people have become numb to it almost, like yeah it is off-putting to see, but peoples reactions range from, "don't care" to "what the hell I'm dropping this" It's done so much people a...... reply
