Subtext
idk if it's just me but does anyone else kinda feel like bl readers (honestly people who read primarily romance in general but I've mostly been reading bl lately) can sometimes be really bad at picking up subtexts stuff character motivation or emotion it seems like a lot of people on this website are really bad at picking up in like anything that's not explicitly stated by the writer
Idk how else to explain it but I'll see an incredibly basic plot about insecurity or internalized homophobia and how a character struggles with it and comments will be filled with people calling them everything but a child of god and it's weird

i think it's partly as a result of how political social media has become (namely twitter) and i see it leaking onto discourse on this site as well. this might be off topic but just a tangential point that i...... reply
Can you make a specific example?
Bc i feel like most of the time it really just is bad writing. Not only for BL or even webcomics, also for books. 1 reply
