Its fun until youre an actual author, it feels corny as fuck when you know some writer is making and imaginary mary sue version of themselves. Unless theyre actually real asf n funny self inserts are weird.   reply

Bro I don't understand how people do it, like I literally get SO embarrassed if I ever imagined myself with any character. I don't mind OCs, you know like they're own original character, they're not you, but if you actually make yourself into an OC and use it to worm your way into the original storyline/date fictional people.... I just don't like it personally, its not for me nothing to do with cringe - y/n stories just don't do it for me. I'll read some OC stories, but those are usually Original Works.   reply

There r some fr DIAMONDS in that subgenre like some mfs can write holy shit, but others....no words So tbh I always give it a shot bc I’ve found rlly good ones in the past that did something incredible with the story with the new character/s they added (whether thats an OC or more of a reader insert). Like the kind of shit that gets me refreshing......   reply

i devour self insert fanfics. Most of them r cringey and not well written but there r some very good ones which I eat up everytime. My comfort fanfic which I have read like 30+ times is a self insert and it doesn't get boring at all (it's a MCU fanfic btw) I always have a self insert scenario in my head whenever I finish a new show or movie it's be......   reply
