gender stereotypes
What are some gender stereotypes that you just don't like or just generally don't understand
for me I hate alot of gender stereotypes I just find them completely dumb especially when their about colors. It makes me so annoyed when I hear people in general say “Boys can't like pink it's for girls” or “Girls can't like blue it's for boys” It's like so annoying because they just colors, if a boy likes pink let him and if a girl likes blue let her why try making them gender-based??
I think another gender stereotype I hate is the one where boys aren't allowed to show emotions because it makes them seem weak. To me that sounds completely dumb, if a man wants to cry let him I don't understand how it makes him weak in the slightest.
That 'modern women' (bullshit term) are all radical feminists that dont reinforce the patriarchy, i've seen so many self proclaimed feminists just go on to push patriarchal ideals hypocritically. 2 reply
“men can't go that” “Lucky him” “Oh he should've enjoyed it” god I hate this stereotype the most. it's generally so stupid to hear that when a man/boy takes the time to express something he went through by the hands of another man or even a woman. | The same can be said about women “Oh she was asking for it” or “She should've enjo...... reply
im not sure if this is a gender stereotype but i absolutely HATE when in real life, literature, movies, or manga, when people say that if a boy is being mean to me, he likes you. um.. please be for real.
it’s kind of an old thing now in movies, but a loooong time ago, this boy was bullying me and i thought to tell my mother, but all she tells me ...... reply
Well a funny example i have is that between me (female) and my dad i am ALWAYS told to be the bigger person. By his mom, by his ex wife (my mom), even he himself tells me to always agree with him and never speak my mind to him and im like. I get it everyone treats him like a little boy, but hes also my father and has to act like a parent. Every wom...... 1 reply
"Men can't cry, it's weak"
I can't count how many times my dad said that to my two brothers. It's obviously affected them in the long run, as my older brother can't show any forms of sadness. And my little brother can't express his emotions properly and uses violence as a way to express that.
I feel like bad fathers are the worst thing that can h...... reply
Gender stereotypes I hate definitely have to be when people link certain things they consider to be feminine or masculine and when a boy wears something "feminine" (like a skirt) they are called slurs, or when women wears something masculine (a suit) and then get called slurs aswell, annoying.
Another one I hate is where women are considered weak ...... reply
This is a bit tamer than the other ones in the replies but the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard is that women are naturally bad at math, which is so stupid bro, like gender has nothing to do with someone being good or bad at math lmao. Atleast according to my experience, my female classmates did better academically in any subject as compared t...... 1 reply
Fragile masculinity that men are not allowed to be a contributing father e.g. having tea parties dressed as a princess or doing household chores without his masculinity being called into question. reply
we (woman) can be as touchy and intimate with our girl friends as we’d like and we would not get called lesbians but god forbid man hug each other then we must alert the church elders!!! 1 reply
I think all of them suck personally
also fun fact blue used to be the color for girls and pink used to be for boys(because it was close to the color of blood lmao), gender stereotypes constantly change over the years and the sheer hypocrisy of them pisses me off 1 reply
