tired of smut
is anyone else tired of smut and pwp in manga/hwa?
for context. I was on it for a long time. without including fanfics on ao3. I consumed alot of filthy shit. I've always (and still am) open about it and accepting of this aspect of myself. I hate puritans and ppl who are judgemental. and love communities that are accepting and open to basically smut.
now fast forward to a few days ago. I started feeling icky about reading smut. I usually have these periods of time but they pass after reading smt plot heavy.
but now I don't even want to touch anything like that. I genuinely feel dreadful at the idea of reading any of it? so I thought I might as well go all the way and stop it all together. an experiment of sorts. to see how would this affect me and my life. is there other people like me? I want an outsider perspective I guess?
I used to read smut alot too and never cared for the plot. Now i only really read stuff that has a good premise and plot or something that catched my eye regardless wether it has smut or not. Though im trying to avoid reading smut so for the meantime and I've mainly been reading fantasy/action and fluffy reads.

It's all about balance like a diet if you only eat sugary foods all day everyday it fuck you up. Just like you I hate puritanism and purity culture a LOT, I think sex is just another aspect of life and we should all be more open about. Now I was raised very religious and sometimes I do feel this guilt of like I shouldn't be doing this maybe it's so...... reply
My era of porn without plot ended a couple of years ago and I eventually stopped reading romance entirely and focused on fantasy, action, and thriller. Its been fun but I recently got back into romance after watching a new thai bl series. I am still not into smut though, I would prefer to have angst and slow burn with a good storyline. Stories with only smut never really worked for me... Which is why prefer stories with actual plot.
But i also realize, stories with good plot and development, even though they might have a lot of smut scenes, I really like those types of stories.
so maybe try those or try shounen ai stories. reply

I’ve never felt icked by a sex scene tho. I’m usually like “damn author did a great job”. But if u switch between being okay with it and being grossed out by it then maybe it’s a hormone thing lol. Sex is not something I feel negatively about. Dreading it does sound kinda strange tho,...... reply
I looooove smut but I dislike when it’s the sole focus or brought into the story way too early. I haven’t ever felt icky about it but there have been times where I was more in the mood for something more innocent I suppose. reply

Hm, it happened suddenly just like that?
I mean there is no harm in changing the genra of stories you like, the only "weird" thing is how you feel about it and i think it would be interesting for you if you could understand why you suddenly feel like that.
