A bi question
I only realized this a few years ago but why do some people that are non and surprisingly also part of LGBTQ+ hate bisexuals? I'm genuinely confused because why chose which gender you are attracted to if you can have both? (more people for you that's a win win for me) I don't hear people hating on pansexuals but I keep seeing things like 'you can't be a bisexual, you're either straight or gay.' I heard somewhere that they hate them bc bi's believe that there's only 2 genders (how the heck did they conclude that?)
I remember when DC canonically change Tim Drake's (3rd Robin) sexuality as bisexual and they change his girlfriend with a boy and it made me '???' you know you didn't have to change his girlfriend to a guy for people to know he's bi or part of the lgbtq+. That also applies in shipping fandoms like 'he's not bi because she/he's dating the opposite gender. That means he's straight!' It's ok to have your hc but some people do be hating on people having a hc/oc that the character is bi but dates the opposite gender. I'm not really a person who engages deeply in communities/fandoms but I do see some of them sometimes. I'm curious why and sorry if it sounds rude(?)
For the first paragraph, I’ve never heard or seen people talk about bi people like that but what?? TT I’m crying cause there’s no way people like that actually exist... I’ve always thought that bi people are more understood than this but wow...
Second paragraph, I thought we were all over this wtf... is this 2020 all over again lol?? Most p...... reply
I think there are a lot of "reasons" behind it, but obviously the reasons are still super harmful to bisexual people.
1. People see sexuality as black and white because it feels easier that way. Sexuality can be super complicated to explain and understand because it's a feeling, and there's really no accurate explanation for sexuality and liking b...... reply
yarrgh heavy on the Tim Drake thing, not only did they break that lad up with a girl he had awesome chemistry with (and the best character in all of DC im not biased) and give him a boring bland ass twink boyfriend (when there was another MUCH more obvious option if they wanted to give him a male love interest), but ever since then they've basicall...... reply
the whole bi women with her straight boyfriend hatred is also pretty lame. i understand the whole keep queer spaces queer, and stop bringing your STRAIGHT boyfriend to these spaces are reasonable but the hatred towards those set of people are getting out of control. bi women can still like women and have a boyfriend, getting mad at them for having ...... reply
hmm, i wonder why society is really obsessed with trying to convince bi men that they're actually gay and bi women they're actually straight... almost like they believe your attraction to men is what defines you reply
I somewhat think that it's because they think it's just a fasse and that the only reason why a bi woman would date a lesbian is because they would want to experience it and vicversa. And as a bi myself who had dated both a guy and girl, I was told a lot by some "friends" that I wasn't bi that I was just faking it and just experimenting around. Also...... reply
I am curious. In the trope guy likes women but ends up with a man, is he considered bi- or gay? If you stop sleeping around and stay with 1 person does that mean you are no longer bi-? Also, is B in LGBT alphabet bi-? 3 reply
Yeaahh this is just something that happens
I'm a Bi AroAce girl, and ive always been scared to date guys, not cause i hate em or something, but because i dont want ppl from the lgtbq saying "just say you're straight" when im very obviously not, ive only ever dated girls before so its genuinely pretty stressful
A guy confessed to me before sometime ...... 1 reply
I'm bi... and tbh I haven't had ppl say this to me other than being extremely homophobic...
I've seen in shows and in YouTube that there ARE ppl who hate bisexuals just cuz we honestly dont give a fk about who we like.
And honestly... I dont think ppl usually know about pans enough to hate them. Ppl r usually aware of heterosexuals, homosexuals an...... reply
Yes fr. I feel like the type of sexualities and identities that don't fit into a neet little explanable box, like being bi, ace, aro, non binary and so on are getting so much hate from both sides its really depressing. Like yeah, I know homophobes are going to hate me, I don't need my own community too! 1 reply
