Once you get into BL you can never go back
So I was once an avid het romance reader, simped and shipped straight couples only with an unparalleled enthusiasm and vigour but then I got into BL and suddenly I hated reading het romance, it felt so disgusting and I couldn't tolerate it (still do)...I thought it was kind of like a natural response of sorts since a lot of ppl have reported to exp the same reaction but I was starting to wonder what if I get tired of bl ( which ik is bound to happen one day but hopefully I didn't jinx it)... so what are your thoughts and experiences?
I had a phase where i only read bl for months but now I read whatever chases my interest. Bl, gl, bg it doesn't matter as long as the charecters are likeable and they have chemistry. Bl isn't inherently superior than other romantic tropes. Most of the trending bl is shit actually.
My honest advice is that give it some time maybe you'll eventually ...... reply
I totally get why people read BL manga however often it just feels super boring to me. If it’s smut it’s probably filled with S/A or if it’s not it’s probably something bland with no defining chemistry. Like often in BL they don’t even bother to label the sexualities or go through ANY queer experience. Like at most it’s a “Oh no! I do...... 1 reply
While I do understand how BL becomes your favorite "staple", saying that it's disgusting to read het story is really going too far. I mainly read BL in this site but I read all kinds of stories regardless of the gender as long as it is well written on the others even in novels and films. There's no such thing "as never going back". That's such a na...... 1 reply
i like shit with good romance, that's all for me. (ignore my glazing) ...for example paljae...love between the male 2 mcs and multiple straight married couples/couples! and its well thought out, not just a plot device for the two mcs. i hate the couples that are just there to make the mcs look better 1 reply
somone who got tired of bl here. after a period of time I started recognizing the tropes and patrens. and it became a game of just spot the difference. 1 reply
Couldn't be any truer. I was in 9th grade when j started reading bls..and 5 years later I'm still ready it lol. And during that time I developed some unexplainable hate towards straight drama or manhwas..whenever j saw it , I went ewwwwww..i still CANT and WONT watch them, cuz it's cringe to me. 1 reply
I started with webtoon with mostly het historical romance action plot based, a friend introduced me to a certain psychological manhwa which people often mistake for bl even though it isn’t considered one.. and I went on a journey from there.
While i still kept up with the ones i was reading before, i was reading 90% bl. Ive slowly began moving o...... reply
Consent and Competency- along with general care for their partner are more apparent in BL as compared to many het romance manga. I don't see nearly as many r*pe scenes where the lead is gaslighted into thinking the behavior of the male lead is okay. There are some, but not nearly as many and I can avoid a lot of them by just reading the first chapt...... 1 reply
Not really For me I like switching it up? I read het then GL then BL as long as the story and romance is good imma read it. I never felt grossed out by reading a genre but did get tired of reading sometimes so I pick from everything to not burn out from one specific reply
